Luis said, “Perhaps this rock will leave again someday.”
“This rock” is a landmark along a path of the eastern Andes of Colombia. It marks a route that leads from one village to another. It also embodies local cosmogony, a form of knowledge about the creation of the world. According to oral tradition, when light emerged, significant figures of that time transformed themselves into stone in order to survive, in order to wait.
In this state of waiting, a space unfolds. The stone is understood not as a static object, but as a material presence with active latency, in which permanence and the potential for change coexist.
This exhibition examines how narratives, landscapes, and objects are preserved, transformed, and rewritten over time.
