Text

Launched as an artists' house in July 2019, the PALAZZINA project consists of a team of ten artists who live together and jointly manage the exhibition space: Mathieu Dafflon, Victoria Holdt, Simone Holliger, Géraldine Honauer, Katrin Niedermeier, Joan Pallé, Noemi Pfister, Luca Rossi, Kelly Tissot and Ines Tondar. Several exhibitions take place each year, along with a programme of performances, readings, talks and dinners. What is special about PALAZZINA is the combination of a housing community and an exhibition space - this context also led to the name, which means "apartment block" in Italian. Located in the Bachletten Quartier, the first station offered great freedom as an interim use, as the invited artists were able to change the spaces almost without limits and create site-specific interventions. These premises in Schweizergasse were demolished in June 2020, which is why PALAZZINA will be located at Alemannengasse 60 from July 2020. From there, the concept will be flexibly adapted to the new surroundings and respond to the new situation. The PALAZZINA project focuses primarily on exchange as a community with the exhibiting artists. It offers the opportunity to discuss together, to concentrate energies and to create new spaces of experience.
